Writing professional with experience in translating from German for cultural-studies publications and Web portals, and in proofreading and line-editing English texts by non-native speakers.
I regularly work for a cultural studies journal, translating from German into English and proofreading book reviews and conference reports, and for a graduate research center, assisting non-native speakers with grammar, usage, and the logical flow of argument in their contributions to cultural studies research. Being personally drawn to environmental issues and research, I'm currently building my German vocabulary in the areas of building design, materials science, and renewable energy. In the future I'd like to bring these skills to bear on the research and localization of green industry innovations. Iím also eager to try my hand at literary translation.
Since becoming interested in graphic and Web design, I have learned to use PhotoShop for basic image manipulation and HTML and CSS to redesign WordPress templates.
My Elance portfolio currently consists of proofreading and translation work samples, altered where necessary to maintain author privacy, and my own writing from www.smallgreengarden.com, my blog on sustainable, organic vegetable gardening. All the written content there is my own. The blog is the result of customizing a WordPress template with a new color scheme, graphic logo, and social networking functionality.

Since 2008 I have provided German-English translation and proofreading services as needed for a graduate research center. Most of my work has been for a quarterly Cultural Studies journal, and more recently I have also served as native-speaker editorial support for essay collections and dissertations.
