Overview

I am very skilled at improving the flow of the text, at finding inconsistencies and duplications, and in communicating with my clients. I edit quickly and accurately, but once I accept a job, I take the time needed to make it the best it can be even when that is unpaid time.

In addition to work in my editing business, I have been a newspaper copyeditor and proofreader since 2003, I am the author of four mystery novels, and I have a bachelors degree in anthropology and both a BS and MS in nursing.

Even before writing my first novel in 1995, my writing was well received throughout my academic career, including having my thesis put in the University library as an example for future students, and being asked by a professor to co-publish one of my research papers with him. My third mystery, "Two Sides of a Coin," and my fourth recently published mystery, "Deja Vu X 2," were written after I had become a professional copyeditor. The first two were written earlier, and I was not the primary editor for them.

In my portfolio, note that the examples that are articles written for a newspaper publication follow the Associated Press style, such as not using a comma before the final "and" in a list. For books, I follow Chicago style, but I am very flexible in incorporating other styles.

I will work as closely with you on your project as is required, changing your work only to the degree agreed upon, communicating with you if I feel that something more should be done, and clarifying your meaning beforehand when necessary.

If received via email, I will use Track Changes on Microsoft Word. I can make the changes visible or not, or both, as...
