Specializing in data extraction and conversion using automation tools. Excel expert. Over 30 years experience including software engineering, operations research, strategic planning, financial reporting and analysis, database design.
I provide two major categories of service:
1) Data extraction and conversion - I extract data from websites, PDF files or other sources and format to client specifications for loading into Excel or other databases. I also merge, sort, eliminate duplicates, separate fields and transform data based on client specifications. I am able to provide fast, efficient and error free results through my mastery of various automation tools. Some of the tools I employ include a text extraction and reformatting language, a keystroke automation scripting language, Visual Basic for applications and Windows batch files or UNIX shell scripts. Throughout my career I have saved my coworkers thousands of hours of tedious labor by automating significant portions of their work processes.
2) Excel spreadsheets - I create or modify Excel spreadsheets with mathematically or logically complex formulas. I also automate spreadsheets using Visual Basic macros. I have been using Excel, including extensive use of macros, since the first version was released by Microsoft. Before Excel was released I was a heavy user of its predecessor Lotus 1-2-3 and the first electronic spreadsheet program VisiCalc.
My primary criteria for undertaking a project are that my skills enable me to complete it much more efficiently than most providers and/or the project requires a high level of mathematical or analytical skill.
