I am Jason Thompson. I am currently an independent contractor for a start up software company in Rochester, MN.

My specialities are javascript, Postgres, Dojo javascript toolkit, XML, HTML, and some CSS, and Perl.
Service Description
I am dedicated to providing a software solution to a client's needs. I can work during most times of the day and am available for contact throughout the day. I am patient and easy to talk to, whether be through e-mail, telephone, or on-line.

I have several years experience designing and developing all tiers of web applications using relevant technologies, standards, and software products (J2EE, postgres, JavaScript, Dojo, AJAX, CSS, HTML, Perl, etc.).

In addition to a B. S. in computer science, I have a Ph. D. in chemistry. This has helped me approach and solve difficult problems, clearly and concisely communicate with others through written work and oral presentations, and has instilled in me the confidence to always strive to learn new and different things.

My background in science has been handy in various software projects. In particular, I have created a customized on-line WYSIWYG editor with a citation/bibliography-creation feature similar to EndNote, an equation editor for creating simple to complex equations, and a collaboration feature that allows multiple users to not only author the same paper simultaneously, but to see each other's changes in real time.

Design an implementation of various tiers making up a web application. In particular, database schema design and implementation, servlets, and widgets and other standalone objects (using the Dojo javascript toolkit) for the presentation layer. Projects of note include adding features to an existing on-line editor, such as a citation manager similar to EndNote, an equation editor, and real-time document sharing with other authors (authors can simultaneously edit the same document and see changes in real time).
