Web Applications: I use HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, jQuery UI, and SQL to build web applications. These are more flexible for both desktops and mobile devices. With the majority of users using mobile devices, it is always wise to accommodate as many devices as possible. This will generate more users to your site. I recently completed the web application for mobile devices for the Associated Press. This will be used in every AP station worldwide!
Database: I have worked on various SQL platforms including Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase. Having a strong database will act as a solid foundation for your applications, be it web, desktop, or mobile interfaces.
Reporting: I worked with Crystal Reports. It is a very powerful tool used for data presentation to any level of user. For the state of Massachusetts, our team headed the reporting project to ensure that reports were delivered to health providers state wide.
Windows Applications/Services: Writing applications to connect to ActiveX, devices, and services is the work horse for many companies. I wrote the communication gateway for the BBC World News which currently services over 7000 reporters. This gateway gave reporters in the field the ability to communicate back to their station. This included an additional level of security for mobile devices.
