“I feel compelled to respond to this unfair feedback. After a number of emails to you, I still had no answer on what you wanted me to do about the "problems" with this job. Therefore, I cancelled the job. The payment I received from you was $41.00.
First, the "problems" that you, Mr. Tobe, refer to in your first sentence were related to your manuscript, not to anything I did not do or could not do. Below is part of our communication via emails. Next, you did not pay for the "first few hours," as I only worked just over one hour on your job when I contacted you regarding the errors with a request that you try to obtain the original Word manuscript that was formatted into a PDF. As you affirm, your conversion from PDF to Word "skewed" the content so that I would have had to copy and paste each sentence onto a new Word file, which would have taken numerous hours to do.
I cannot use the Doc file you sent, which has been converted from a PDF. As you know, each page is "screwed up." That often happens (almost always) when a PDF is converted back to a Word file. To be sure, I sent your original PDF to my account at Adobe and had it converted. It came out the same as yours--a total mess.
The only thing I can do at this point is to copy each page from the original PDF and paste it onto a new Word file. Then I would need to check each page against the PDF to be sure it was correct. As you can see, this will take a considerable amount of time. All of that must be done before I do the conversion into an ebook for Kindle.
I suggest that you go back to the person who formatted and designed the book (good job!) and ask them to send you their final Master Word file from which the PDF was made. If this was done recently, they should still have it in their files. I can then work directly from that Word file and the conversion into an ebook will go much faster.
I will do no more work on this project until I hear back from you, Jeff.
You never responded with any directions; you just said that you were going to upload the PDF as it was to Kindle. So, I then cancelled our job.
