I am Marissa C. Johnson, the founder and owner of Johnson's Paralegal Service (JPS). I am a Chicago native and was born and raised on the Southside of the city. I am the third of 4 children reared by a single parent.
Growing up, the value of persistence and hard work were instilled from an early age. And by the age of 9 I had my first job of cleaning trash from a neighbor's yard for 50 cent a day. This would not be my last independent business venture.
Although I was drawn to the law, I craved the flexibility and independence that was only available as an entrepreneur. Hence, in the fall of 2006 JPS was born. I wanted to provide a valuable service to individuals that may have trouble navigating through legal paperwork but, were unable to hire a private attorney. I also sought to help the small to mid-sized law firms that needed a temporary, on-call, or part-time legal assistant.
In addition to being an entrepreneur, I am a wife and proud mother of four. I know the value of tactfulness, persistence, and hard work. I apply the motivation and positive mindset gathered from home, into the business arena.
In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering within the comunity. I am currently the president of my local Parent Teacher League, secretary of the Young Democrats of the 21st Ward, and regularly volunteer at the local food pantry with my family.
