I've been an Operations Manager for a 56-office Executive Suite in a busy metropolitan area, where the majority of my clients were attorneys, as well large, corporate-satellite offices.
For my employer, I sold administrative services to the on-site clients who leased space, as well as the corporate identity (off-site clients) who would call, e-mail or fax their service requests. Services were charged in six-minute increments, according to the industry standard. We provided services ranging from opening, reading and following through on mail to extensive desktop publishing projects and all tasks in between.
If a client called and needed their messages, I might, from just a message, spend the next hour booking a flight, hotel and vehicle arrangements to and from any given destination or spend the next hour preparing a Witness List and all corresponding Notices of Deposition relative to just a message.
Thanks to the large variety of clients, I wore many hats at the same time, enabling me to hone my multi-tasking skills; as each client's jobs were prioritized not only by "first come, first served," but by time sensitivity. Many times, the clients had to meet and agree on whose project was most time sensitive, i.e., whether it related to statutes of limitations, a hearing or deposition or arranging for travel services to get the client to the airport on time.
