The writing bug bit me when I was about twelve. I had submitted a photo of my cat with a fantastical story about how I saved her from drowning to a national pet rescue newsletter. I was thrilled to see my story published, and ran my fingers over the page. When I think about it, I can still smell the ink from the newsprint.
