ELearning Background

As a teacher, I have taught many online courses and supported the growth of numerous online learning communities. My students have primarily been teachers seeking guidance on ways in which to leverage technology to enhance their practice. As a certified assessor with the Association for Learning Technology, I evaluate the professional development portfolios of candidates seeking accreditation for their contribution to the educational technology community. I also act as a mentor for a community called Core4Women, which supports and encourages those who seek to empower themselves through online education. By sharing my experiences and expertise in educational technology, I broaden people's perspectives of the nature and potential benefits of online learning.

As a technologist/instructional designer, I have increased the market reach of education and training initiatives by making learning more accessible through technology. For example, I have developed online and blended learning courses that leveraged social media technologies, multi-media content and proprietary resources that benefited both the learner and the teacher. Using sound pedagogical principles and established learning theories, I have also added value to more traditional programs of study by incorporating technologies that enhanced the learning, teaching and assessment processes.
