The best writing is clear, alive and speaks to your reader. As a proofreader and editor, my job is to help make your writing as natural, precise, economical and balanced as it can be.
I will proofread and edit your writing to the highest standards, work with you closely throughout the editing process to incorporate your input, and meet your deadlines (submitting work ahead of schedule if possible).
I'm a proofreader, editor and writer based in Canberra, Australia.
I have a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Asian Studies (First Class Honours) from the Australian National University where I majored in English and linguistics with excellent results. I have also completed a Diploma of Publishing (Professional Book Editing, Proofreading and Publishing), and am currently undertaking postgraduate studies in Professional Writing. I am a member of the Canberra Society of Editors.
I'll make several passes of your document to check for spelling, grammar and punctuation errors and to make sure that everything is where it should be.
In addition to everything above, I'll make sure that your document is stylistically consistent (spelling, capitalisation, punctuation, numbering etc.), contains accurate cross references, and is complete and visually consistent (page layout, captions, tables etc.)
A substantive edit incorporates everything from a proofread and copy edit and also involves assessing the content, structure, language and presentation of the document. I'll ensure that your language and style are appropriate for your audience and the material is clearly and succinctly written. I'll also remove repetitive, irrelevant or contradictory material and suggest alternative ways of presenting material as appropriate.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Please feel free to contact me for further information about my services.
