“While my communication on this project was poor, it was mostly out of frustration. I admit being unresponsive. However, in 20+ eLance projects, and thousands of dollars spent, this was the first time something like this ever happened. I was too busy dealing with normal day-to-day projects to focus on the absurdity of this one: The contractor was not able to deliver a final product (Word Template), that worked on my computer. The template is PC only, and not compatible with Apple products. Contractor says it works on a PC beautifully, but I have no way of knowing. I do think the contractor knows the PC side of things, but Microsoft Word is a universal product. Contractor would probably be wise to either acknowledge in skills section "PC Only", or figure out how to work in Apple products and software. We advertised for a Microsoft Word expert; didn't think we had to differentiate between PC and Apple. Rather than dispute the payment, and drag this project out even further, I decided to release payment and move-on. ”
“Thank you for the feedback. I worked hard on your project, it worked well on a PC and I provided more than you requested. The macros will work for you on the Mac but I am sorry the custom toolbar did not show up for you. As I have stated, if you are willing to put 30 minutes into it, I can help you create the custom toolbar on the Mac for no charge. I cannot do it for you as I do not have a Mac. As you have stated, you have been too busy personally and otherwise to devote any time to this project, or to even respond to my requests over a period of several months.
If you look through the skills section of any MS Office contractor on Elance, you will not find any of them specifying PC or Mac unless they only work on a Mac. The reason for this is because Microsoft Word for the PC has "Around 500 million users worldwide thereby making the most popular word processor in the world." (source: wiki.answers.com) and "Apple quoted 75 million users of Mac OS X at the WorldWide Developers Conference in June 2009" (source: wiki.answers.com), and those 75 million users probably use Microsoft Word for the most part. The number of PC users for outweighs the number of Mac users.
I wish you good luck with your project.”
