I am looking for someone to create a resume for me by converting my academic CV into a resume that I can use to apply to non-academic jobs. I have a PhD in cultural anthropology (2012). I am looking for someone who has experience writing resumes, converting Cvs to resumes, and preferably someone who knows how to "translate" anthropologica...
“I cannot recommend her to anyone who wants a high quality resume. Unfortunately I chose her because she had many good reviews. However, my experience with her was unsatisfactory. She will basically take your resume and reorganize it into a basic template. I had multiple offers from other resume writers when I posted my job. She was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. However, the $82 I spent on my resume was a waste of money since I now have to re-write it myself, or hire somebody better to re-write it for me. She produced a very generic resume, with a lot of empty buzz words, that had little to do with my own experience. She showed little to no interest in revising it when I asked. My criticisms and suggestions for revisions were met with a list of excuses, defensiveness, and little action until I insisted she make changes. Basically it appeared to me like she just wanted to write a quick and dirty resume and receive payment right away. The fact that I asked for corrections to errors, and suggested revisions, just seemed to annoy her. I would make an official complaint if I thought it would do any good. However, I've wasted enough of my time and money dealing with her unprofessionalism. I've paid the money just to get her out of my life. I wish someone had written a review like this before I hired her. I definitely would have hired somebody else. I suggest you do the same. ”
“The client provided no helpful interaction whatsoever. When I sent the resume draft based on the information in the proposal. She sent a message back stating that she wanted a boxy resume format. She also wanted more focus on academic/teaching positions, even though she had stated she was not looking for this type of position. Additionally, she had questions regarding the proper writing style for a resume.
I asked a few questions and awaited her response which was:
"Are you currently revising my resume or not? Am I waiting for another draft from you, or not? Do you consider the resume you sent me to be the final product, or not? Please clarify. I assumed that there would be some dialogue between you and I in terms of making changes, clarifying skills, and focusing the resume. Was I wrong in that assumption?"
I assumed that what we were having was dialogue, but apparently not according to her. Due to the time difference I sent a revised format with added information for the teaching position. EXACTLY what she wanted. However, I also clarified the proper writing style for a resume because she was confused.
I heard nothing back, sent a reply, still nothing back and then get this feedback.
There was no way to please the client because she would not have useful "dialogue" with me.
My reviews speak for themselves and unfortunately, sometimes there are some clients that you cannot please no matter what. ”
