I am a freelance translator, writer, editor and proofreader (French/Spanish to English) with 10 years of experience, focusing principally on sport, marketing, advertising, literary and tourism-related copy, as well as US to UK English adaptation. My translations are always readable, accurate and fluid. I am also able to deliver well-written and concise copy from brief, and can write in a variety of tones and registers, with a professional and engaging style. In addition, I make use of my translation skills to adapt French and Spanish copy to international English-speaking markets, and apply my editing skills to transform American English into British English (and vice versa), making use of my status as a Scot based in the United States.
I also act as a language outsourcer, so if you need your website, legal documents or training materials translated into other foreign tongues (be it French, Chinese, Portuguese or any other language) please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Quality French/Spanish into English translation, editing or proofreading, as well as US English>UK English adaptation, particularly in the fields of sport, marketing, advertising, computer games and tourism.
I offer a high-calibre, reliable and communicative service, complete with competitive rates - feel free to contact me with any relevant translation or writing projects that may arise.

Various, incl.Operations Manager & Project Manager
2004 - 2006
Operations Manager: This was a fast-paced environment in a rapidly-growing Internet-based translation company, where a solid knowledge of the translation industry and effective problem-solving and motivational skills were crucial. Along with the management of a production team of 16 people, the main focus of this challenging role was to ensure that day-to-day operations ran as smoothly as possible, in terms of customer service, quality assurance, staff training and translation budgets and margins.
Project/Training Manager: This initial role within the same company involved general project management duties – pricing and placing translations, liaising with new clients and translators on a daily basis, extensive proofreading and some translation, looking after and retaining existing clients (and meeting their expectations), dealing with tight deadlines and ensuring that a good relationship with translators was maintained at all times. The role was later expanded to include the induction training of new staff, which was completed in 2 successful waves in Romania in 2005.
