Service Description

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania. I received my PhD in psychology and neuroscience from Princeton in 2009. I'd like to supplement my income writing about science or more or less anything else.

I worked at Princeton's writing center for my entire graduate career, assisting students and staff from all disciplines with academic writing from five-page papers on Shakespeare and Spike Lee to theses and dissertations on medical anthropology, biogeochemistry, and the neuroscience of postpartum depression. I've sold two fictional stories, won two Honorable Mentions in the Writers of the Future contest, self-published a comic book with Xeric Grant winner Mike LaRiccia, and published two peer-reviewed scientific articles as first author. In my first year of graduate school, I wrote a research proposal that won me a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship worth $90,000 in salary over three years. I'm currently revising an application for an NIH National Research Service Award whose initial submission was well reviewed, and which will be worth about $120,000 in salary and stipend over three years if it's funded. In high school, I won the opinion writing contest at the Temple University Press Tournament twice, which seemed like a big deal at the time, and I wrote and edited articles for Amherst's newspaper, THE AMHERST STUDENT, throughout college.
