“This unfortunate situation with a buyer new to elance seems to be primarily the result of his not reading or understanding the terms of the contract he agreed to. He funded escrow for two milestones, I promptly finished his editing project, and then didn't hear back from him on whether he'd received it. I also got no response to my request to release the remaining escrow payment.
After five days with no payment, no response to my questions, and no communications besides "I got the files," client then sent back a marked-up file with numerous requests for more editing -- well beyond the scope of our agreement. I filed a status report noting a "problem" with the project. Client then filed a dispute, then withdrew it, and paid the overdue balance. He then claimed numerous "grammatical" errors remaining in the file, but had no answer when I requested he list them so I could fix them. I had changed his "municipial" to "municipal" and he changed it back to "municipial" so perhaps he considers that a grammatical error.
Definitely NOT a recommended client on elance.
