Develop first requirements, first specifications and high level design after idea/problem definition with the client.
For embedded projects, then develop the initial function list, data flow diagrams and timing from which the detailed hardware and code implementation are iteratively built and tested.
For DC-DC converters, select a topology and initiate the circuit design and calculation process to meet the specifications and iteratively simulate using LTspice/PSpice AD before PCB layout with OrCAD PCB Editor/Router, testing and production.
For custom transformer design, select a core material and shape - toroid, shell, cut core, then apply specifications to arrive at turns/volt, winding table, build, losses, temperature rise, simulation and production plan.
For stepper motor and DC motor interfaces - calculate all timing figures, then select the processor, components and devices to meet power, voltage, current and impedance specifications for final schematic, PCB layout and testing.
For processor controlled AC power switching, select the switching module type - solid state relay/electromechanical relay. Then consider inrush currents, operating currents, operating voltages to design and specify the circuit for simulation and PCB design. Consider the timing requirements and turn on/off signals for design and code implementation, simulation and testing.
