Overview

Minimum Hourly Rate $8

I have been a Distributed Proofreaders volunteer for the past year. I have qualified for P3, the highest level of proofreading, and have done some formatting, as well.

The volunteers at Distributed Proofreaders are the ones who make the e-books on Project Gutenberg possible. We take the book from the OCR scan all the way to post-processing, when it is posted on Project Gutenberg.

Most of my experience is in historical and science fiction, but I also have experience in history, romance, and non-fiction.

Much of my reading has been in 19th...

Service Description

I have had excellent grades in all of my English tests for many years. I have always been very particular when it comes to grammar and spelling, and I hate to see a single mistake in an entire document.

I joined Distributed Proofreaders as soon as I found them, on April 8th, 2009. I started out, as all new volunteers do, in proofreading level P1. The minimum time before passing to the next round, P2, is 3 weeks, or 21 days. Also, a proofreader must complete 300 P1 pages before they can pass to the next level and take the proofreading quiz. I successfully completed the minimum number of pages and the quiz by the time 3 weeks had gone by, and was granted immediate access to P2. The passing requirements for P3 are 42 days, or 6 weeks, 400 total P1+P2 pages, at least 50 of which have to be P2, and 50 total pages of F1, which is the lowest formatting level. I passed all of those requirements by the 42 days, but have not yet had the opportunity to apply for P3, due to the requirement that the pages that are checked need to come from at least two separate books, and I always work one book until it is finished. If you are interested in learning a little more about us, go to the Distributed Proofreaders website at http://www.pgdp.net/c/default.php.

I have read every historical fiction work written by G. A. Henty, a well-known English writer of the 19th century. I have also read all of Martha Finley's Elsie Dinsmore books. I have read several series and many individual works in...
