My specialties are with parsing (un)structured documents and with J2EE web apps.
I have a fervent interest in Java EE 6 - EJB 3.1, JSF 2, CDI, JMS..
I started full time as a legal publishing developer for Reed Elsevier. Here I worked with a team to develop SGML and XML DTDs, and parsing scripts in Perl, Java and Omnimark. We delivered paper and electronic legal documents.

I am a Software Engineer with over 17 years experience in the database development, legal publishing, aerospace support and e-health industries. I have delivered projects on-time and on budget and have worked by myself, with a team and as a team leader. I have worked with a large variety of technologies and have become very excited by Java EE 6 due to its light footprint and convention over configuration attitude along with its immense power as a web, server and purely as a container-based system (there are efforts underway to port its CDI and other features to Java SE applications in the CDISource project).
I have a wealth of experience parsing structured and unstructured documents into XML documents, text documents, CSV and XLS documents, HTML documents and databases. Perl, Omnimark and Java are the main tools used for this purpose.
I have equally good experience with J2EE for JSPs, Servlets and Web applications generally. And with frameworks such as Spring and Stripes. More recently I have worked with JavaEE 6 (EJB 3.1), JSF with Richfaces, RESTful Web Services, Hibernate and EclipseLink, and JMS using MDBs. I used these for my work building front, middle and backend systems.
