Resume/C.V.

For 24+ years I have been producing technically accurate, concise technical manuals, guides, and training courses for Software, Hardware, High-Tech, and Industrial products and services. The documents and courses I produce assist and train installation and configuration personnel, technical support departments, system administrators, and many other types of technical personnel.

Non-technical end-users easily understand the user-targeted documents I create because I use a format that makes sense and is easy to understand - regardless of the reader's knowledge level.

For this reason, companies of all sizes call on me when they need technical documentation that is accurate and user-friendly.

Utilizing my professional services for your company's products and/or services will:

~ Increase customer satisfaction!
~ Lower technical support costs!
~ Free your staff to perform their core job functions!
~ Increase your bottom line!

Contact me and allow me to do the same for you!
Service Description
Thank you for your interest in my Technical Writing Services!

Now maybe you're visiting my Elance Profile out of curiosity. Some folks do: especially those who have never hired a Technical Writer before.

But more likely you need a good precise technical writer - someone who combines writing skills and technical knowledge with the ability to explain even the most complicated processes and procedures to non-technical personnel and clients.

Whatever the reason for coming to this page, you want to know more about a writer before you hire him. If we were sitting face-to-face chatting in your office you'd ask me questions. Let me try to answer a few of those questions right here.

~ What are your qualifications as a technical writer?

As a technical writer, I have written numerous technical manuals for several different corporations who have a global market. One of these companies has a 90 percent market share in their field. The manuals and guides I have personally written (and continue to write) for them have been distributed to thousands of engineering, support, administration, operations and end-user personnel around the world with the company's software distributions.

I've written and delivered training seminars in online marketing and website development for the local Small Business Development Center (a division of the SBA) and have given private training sessions to many of my colleagues. I have been the "go-to-guy" for many different technologies for over 23 years.

Before becoming a technical writer, I worked on the Branch and Division Manager's Staff for Laboratory Operations, and in research and development of Air Traffic Control Systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 11 years. I then left the government and became a contractor to the FAA writing technical documentation on new and emerging ATC systems. I personally created (from scratch) and delivered (in a formal classroom setting) technical training courses to En Route and Airway Facilities personnel on existing and developmental Air Traffic Control Systems.

I started my Information Technology business part-time in 1990 offering dial-up internet connectivity to local customers and website design and hosting to local businesses. When I stopped performing my services for the Federal Government, I went full time with the business and have been operating the business full time ever since.

~ Do you have a technical background?

I have an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree from Atlantic County Community College in New Jersey and completed my degree program with a major in Computer Systems Technology and a minor in Electronics Technology.

I was the only person who ever went through the curriculum. My overall GPA was 3.66 and cumulative GPA in my major/minor was 3.85. I graduated with High Honors, was on the Dean's List every semester while working 30 hours per week, and was on the National Dean's List.

I currently hold an FCC General Class Amateur Radio License (since 1988) and 99 percent of the work I performs is in the software, hardware, and high-tech arenas.

I've written content related to Air Traffic Control Systems, computer software, various hardware components, warehouse forklift positioning systems (local GPS), websites, landing pages, personal development, online marketing, email marketing, network broadcast systems, and many other areas.

I designed, implemented and supported a client-server laboratory scheduling system for the FAA to use in scheduling simulations laboratory time, equipment and personnel for federal employees and contractors testing new and current Air Traffic Control Systems for which I received several awards. The system is still in use today!

Most important to you, I am a technical documentation professional with a broad range of expertise and experience who is able to translate highly technical topics into laymen's terms.

Writing technical documentation isn't something I do to pass the time between TV commercials. Rather, it's my bread and butter. So I put all of my skill, knack and know-how into every piece of technical documentation I write.

And after writing hundreds of articles, reference manuals, user guides and training courses for someone like you, I've learned how to produce documentation at a level suitable for installers, developers, repair technicians, technical support personnel and system administrators, along with non-technical end-users and customers so that each person's level of knowledge easily understands what they are reading.

~ What kinds of assignments do you handle?

I cover the full spectrum of technology. About 95 percent of my business is writing software related manuals and guides. The rest involves creating a wide assortment of technical communications materials including training courses, and technical presentations. I also do some website development (WordPress based) but that now accounts for only about 1 percent of my work.

My specialty is my ability to write clear, accurate content about a wide range of technology products and services, from the simplistic to the intricate and highly technical.

I am able to quickly grasp complex technology issues and understand sophisticated technologies. Clients appreciate the fact that I can sit down with engineers, scientists, systems professionals, and other specialists and ask intelligent questions, understand their answers, and speak their language.

What's more, my clients are completely satisfied. I deliver my services reliably and professionally 100 percent of the time. I can't predict how many adjustments your document will require, but I can, and do, guarantee your satisfaction with the services you receive from me.

~ Who are your clients and what do they say about your content and counsel?

Neil Kelty from Indiana University remarks: "By far the best provider I've used to date; extremely fast turnaround, finished the project more than a week early and it was absolutely outstanding work. Really exceeded my expectations and I plan to pass work to this provider again and again in the future."

Olek Shestakov, Vice President of Engineering with Front Porch Digital comments: "Lou worked directly with my team and I to enhance the documentation and user manuals for our world-recognized, leading product in the broadcast industry. The project was completed on time, within the budget, and according to the highest quality standards which completely satisfied the needs of the end-users. Everybody in our organization recognized Lou's initiative and motivation, which helped to comply with our tight schedule and complex requirements. Lou is one of the best professionals I have ever worked with. He is thorough, always responsive, and extremely adherence to both cost and schedule. I genuinely enjoyed his work style and will definitely recommend him to my colleagues and partners."

Mr. Shestakov continues on to say: "Lou completed a major set of technical user documentation according to the plan and within the project budget. The target audience is thousands of broadcast engineers in 30+ countries. We appreciate the quality work and are looking forward to continue our work relations."

~ What happens if we want you to revise the content?

Just tell me what you want to improve and what the changes are, and I'll make them - fast. There is no charge for rewriting. Revisions are included in the fee we've agreed upon for the assignment; provided they are assigned within 30 days of your receipt of the content and are not based on a change in the assignment after the content has been submitted to you.

Most clients are pleased and enthusiastic about my content when they receive it. But if you are not 100 percent satisfied, I will revise the content according to your specific guidelines - and at my expense.

PA Tech Writers, LLC: Louis Bonaventura III
Founder/CEO / Technical Writer / Technical Trainer
1990 - Present
I decided to just go ahead and do freelance work directly without using the KNR IT Solutions business name. I am now providing services as both myself (personally within Elance), and PA Tech Writers to the "outside world" - we are one in the same! All of the information and work, etc. that you see in my profile was all done by myself anyway so I simply decided to just use my own name here, and PA Tech Writers elsewhere. You can still expect the same great quality of service and professionalism that you have received in the past! Only the name has changed and nothing else! I started part-time in 1990 and in 2003 went to a full time operation. “Lou worked directly with my team and I to enhance the documentation and user manuals for our world-recognized, leading product in the broadcast industry.
