Communicating well today is all about 'sticky eyes'. If your readers do not 'lock on' to the message in the first few paragraphs of your content, forget it. they're gone. If you're selling, they've gone to your competitors. If you're training, they've gone back to their texting. And, if you're trying to tell a story, they've gone napping.
