“Thank you for your feedback Adam, I apologize that you feel that way, however, this was brought on by your unresponsiveness. Which I believe I was being purposely ignored, but it's okay, I did what Elance recommends in these situations. I never gave attitude or showed any hostility, I remained professional and anybody who wishes to see screenshots of the conversation, let me know, I have saved them for my records, and I would be happy to provide them. Once I filed a dispute, I chose to discontinue further communications directly with the client and only dealt with Elance regarding this issue.
So here is where I stand with this project. I initially completed another logo for this client and everything went smoothly, he left a 5.0 feedback score for the project "Logo Needed for "LegalZoom" Type Website" found below. I believe this makes his new feedback score inconsistent, especially when he gives a 1 on cost, yet he came up with the price, a 1 on schedule and a 1 on response when I was the one constantly messaging him with no reply.
He loved the work I did on the first logo, so much so that a few days later I received a new logo project from him for $25 more than the first one, which was his doing. I accepted the project on October 31st and provided the first mockup on November 4th. He responded on November 5th saying that he liked a portion of the logo but wanted an element replaced. I was happy to oblige, and so I requested some more information to get a better idea of the direction the client wanted to go in. Without response, I went ahead and used my best judgement by referring to their existing logo to create something possibly more his style. I sent several messages to include providing my email address in case he was having a problem with Elance messaging on his end, and still no response between Nov. 5 - Nov. 17 (12 days!), yet I could see that he was logging in daily, opening and closing out other projects. I also contacted an Elance representative which also seen him log in 2 minutes prior to my call and suggested I dispute it.
Elance is a competitive environment, which I love working in, but on the same token, there are risks involved on both client side and contractor side. I
use my best judgement to steer clear of being scammed by following Elance rules, regulations, terms, and conditions. I always use Escrow and in
situations where the client becomes unresponsive for several days, I will use the tools that Elance provides to resolve these issues.
This client has since reopened a dispute and I advise you beware of working with this client, you may find yourself in a similar unfortunate situation.”
