Creative, compassionate, precision-based editing and supportive, no-nonsense book coaching.
As an editor, my purpose is to nurture an author's authentic voice and clarify his or her vision with meticulous attention to grammatical and conventional details. Comprehensive editorial services include offering supportive critiques, challenging authors to exceed their own expectations as writers, and exploring the development of craft via in-depth feedback. I deliver the highest level of professionalism to all clients, including the NYC agents who refer their authors to me for developmental and copy editing work.
SPECIALTIES: developmental editing, manuscript evaluation (fiction), ghostwriting, query letters (fiction), proofreading
I hold a BA and MA in English and American Literature from New York University (baccalaureate minor: Creative Writing). I'm an avid reader, adore puzzles, and am always looking for challenges that synthesize creativity, cleverness, and the meticulous application of usage & grammar conventions.
While I have extensive experience with proofreading and copyediting, I also specialize in developmental editing. In this more advanced endeavor, an editor works to find and nurture a writer's authentic voice and style; the editor also guides the writer through story development and structural choices. Developmental editing still requires an impeccable knowledge of grammar and convention to ensure documents possess clarity, precision, and polish.
Authors interested in pursuing publication will be happy to note that I am highly familiar with query letter requirements and formatting.
