Design and development of embedded systems involving USB interfaces, data logging measurement systems, test systems and power electronics. Using test equipment, analog, digital, power ICs, CPLDs, C, Microsoft Visual Studio, Visual BASIC6/C++, MFC, LabWindows/CVI, Microchip MPLAB MCC18, MPASM and Kiel 80251 assembler. Hitex DProbe and MPLAB ICD2 debuggers. OrCAD and PADS PowerLogic schematic capture. PowerPCB printed circuit layout. OrCAD PSpice and MATLAB.
Major hardware and firmware development for a meteorological data logger. Designed an analog measurement subsystem that achieved 0.025% accuracy for 5.000V and 50.00mV measurement ranges, over the full -40 to +55°C temperature range. Updated 8051 firmware to utilize my new hardware with an 80251 processor and new capabilities enabled by a 256 macrocell CPLD and flash memory. Designed a power supply using multiple switchers to improve battery life.
Two different USB projects using the Communications Device Class to emulate a COM port. One with the PIC18F4550 and the other with a PIC18F2450. Wrote two Visual C++ MFC applications for one of them that detected device insertion and displayed a dialog to work with the device.
Designed and implemented 75% of two test systems for multiple MPEG2 Satellite Decoder products in a team environment. Integrated the test systems at the contract manufacturing plant. Developed software using LabWindows/CVI, and implemented test instrument drivers....
