My work is based, almost entirely on stylized representation, derived from a passion for comic imagery and classic illustration. Sometimes fantastic and unreal yet grounded in realistic subject matter. I am most interested in documenting people and their environments, and perhaps to transcend the physical aspects of their realities in my art. The content of my work is almost always of an urban nature, reflecting my native city New York. I believe that the symbols we see every day contain in each of them an infinity of meaning, and I am devoted to investigating that meaning as it manifests itself in buildings and traffic and people. I have used my art as a means of escape, but also to address reality. I found the rhythms of life fascinating, in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn, and every day I set out to draw and paint these rhythms the way I see them.
