I am a 2005 graduate of the University of Rhode Island where I majored in textiles, merchandising, and design and minored in management. Despite not pursuing a degree in English or Writing, I have always enjoyed writing and have received excellent feedback throughout the years. While in college, I was invited to work as a writing consultant. I enjoyed the opportunity to critique and edit the work of other student writers.
I started my career in the corporate side of retail. While I loved working in the retail industry, I felt like something was missing - writing! I eventually made a career jump into public relations. Working in PR has allowed me to enhance and broaden my writing skills. My client base is diverse - retail, education, health care, travel, and a non-profit - which keeps me on my toes and has given me the opportunity to write press releases and media pitches for a wide variety of industries.
In addition to my career in PR, I work part-time critiquing practice exam essays for high school students who are preparing to take the SAT exam. I also volunteer my time and PR experience on the GOAL USA Boston Ball Committee. I help to coordinate all press and marketing surrounding the annual Boston ball which raises money for the poorest of the poor in developing countries.
