“The issues the client mention weren't caused by our work and we didn't left the project, the client decided to stop working with us.
I am surprised with this feedback (although i see that all the feedbacks given by this provider are negatives) as we worked for 8 months and he always show satisfaction with our work, otherwise we would not have worked so long.
As this feedback is definitively not usual for us, then we think that worth a detailed explanation of the case:
We started working on this project when the client left the previous developer. The website had been implemented based on an unknown eCommerce PHP framework, with several architecture issues, poor code, too old code (implemented for PHP 5.2 which was released on Nov 2, 2006 and supported until Jan 6, 2011 ), too much non-standard code and lack of development documentation which made us to spent several hours to evaluate each new implementation we did. For sure our first suggestion was to implement a new system that fits better the client`s expectations but he decided to move forward with current platform anyway to complete bug fixes from previous developer and implement new features.
In these 8 months, we added a lot of new features that are still working without any problem. Some of these are: new homepage and improvements on current web design, art gallery and dynamic slideshow to show featured listings, archive pieces section with sidebar and advanced filter, improvements on product page and auction process, improvements on emails templates and design, integration with MailChip, Social Network sharing integration, improvements on sign up process, we also implemented FedEx Web Service to auto-calculate artwork delivery cost and provide buyer with ability to choose desired FedEx service. All new features we implemented were delivered on time and confirmed by client according with initial estimate. We worked for 8 month to complete all those features and results were received and confirmed by the client after each new release we did. During all these months, we made several releases pushing new features to the live site without downtimes in the web.
After all this work was done, the client decided to move the site to another hosting. After we moved the site, the client published it on the new server. After completing some testing we found the site has several issues on the new hosting (because the old software werent compatible with the new server). We immediately recommended to return the site to the old server but the client insisted in solving the issues.
After solving a few issues (including update on the core of the framework, install modules on the server, etc) and when we were working on that remaining ones, the client decided to stop working with us because he though that we weren't moving enough faster. We definetivelly think that is unfair to blame us about all those issues related directly with the core framework being incompatible with the new server. Also its unfair because we didn't get paid on the last month of work.
Now that we received this feedback 5 months after the client decided to stop working with us, we see that the site was effectively returned to the old server, so they solved the remaining issues with our initial recommendation of rolling back the site to the previous hosting.
You can reach your own conclusions about the client and this project and compare it with the rest of our feedback, which are a strong evidence that we always work to deliver quality work.”
