“the project was a visual concept and design templates for a social media app promoting a green lifestyle sf360 delivered quality design work, but provided virtually no usable creative input.
via the brief and on the message board specific and repeated requests were made not to use green colors, as this would be stating the obvious, and not appeal to the target audience. still, sf360 provided only concepts with green as the dominating color. the eventual solution was to use green for color accents, not as the main color. sf360 didn't come up with that.
similar requests were made to provide a cool design and that coolness is most commonly achieved through understatement. sf360's response to this was a series of designs that literally read "this app is cool", without using the clues provided to create a minimal and toned down design.
i ended up spoonfeeding most of the ideas for most design elements, including navigation menu, color scheme, use of existing avatars, page lay out, myself, and could have hired a good designer to do the work, instead of paying a substantial premium for ideas that simply were not usable.
these pretty major shortcomings were partly offset by good quality design files, and some additional work outside the project scope thrown in for free, which was appreciated. the contractor's attitude was professional, although english level was sometimes insufficient, and inability or unwillingness to see the gap in creative capability was frustrating.”
