I have been working in writing, editing, and translation since 1999. Over the last 10 years this has involved a number of activities based in community improvement through community empowerment. I am currently working to develop a literacy program for homeless children in Southern Mexico, (hopefully, once established, this will include a job-training and job-placement program), to help break the cycle of poverty.
As a community organizer and electoral campaign coordinator, I have written and edited press releases concerning a wide variety of topics and events, as well as coordinating and writing for media campaigns calling for letters to the editor and editorials, both co-authored and individual. This work has been focused around improving the quality of life for working class families done through PUEBLO, the California Democratic Party, and the Student Labor Action Project. I also developed materials and provided training for others within these organizations.
I have developed my Spanish/English Translation skills through living and working abroad in Costa Rica, Spain, and Mexico, while additionally living with South Americans (Argentina, Paraguay), which has given me knowledge of a variety of regional differences in the Spanish Language . While in the US I have worked in a bilingual organization which required constant written translation of internal and external documents and simultaneous translation.
