“For this job I was requested to translate a script for a video that was sent to me on a DOC file. I was supposed to translate the document and then review the translation after it was inserted on their website.
The job was accepted and delivered in less than one hour, and the price charged was $20 including Elance rate. Like always I delivered to my client fast work with great rates. Here is the message I sent after accepting the job, and later on the file final document translated and reviewed was sent to the client. You can see the message and the time:

Almost one week later I got the message bellow:
Good afternoon - I hope you had a nice weekend. I spoke with our tech team and it's a bit difficult to match up with the timing. Can you put this directly into Amaro."
To translate a normal document is one thing, but to perform subtitles translation to a video on a captioning tool is a whole new deal, since it's necessary to consider the sync with the video, limit of words, lines and etc. Whole new sentences and words have to be used on the translation. If the client had asked me first to do the translation directly to this subtitle system I would have done it with no problem.
So I suggested her the payment of extra $10 to perform the new translation requested, since it takes more time than a normal translation. Her answer comes below and it is totally unrealistic and unfair considering the first job proposal that is exhibited with this feedback and considering that I delivered the document translated in less than one hour as proved above:
Thank you for your response. All of the other translators have been able to get this done, and you have been extremely slow in responses. You said you could get this done in a fast turnaround, and you have been the slowest by far with all of our translators. The text that I gave you has not changed, it is the same text that was initially given to you at the onset. I also said in the beginning that this is for a video, so I don't think it's unfair to have you sync it with time. I've done it in Spanish, and it did not take two hours. You also agreed to the terms, which were to do a final job to make sure the video was synced with the verbage. I'm very disappointed with your service.
Main Proposal: “I would like to get a quote for an English translation into Portuguese. The project would involve translating an English script into Portuguese so that it can appear as subtitles on the page. Please include in your quote your experience, turn around time, and a final review once the content is live on the site.”
Is easy to see that this is not a serious client, since she was trying to “bend” all what was agreed on the first proposal to serve her other needs. The fact that she manage to convince other translators to work twice paying only once does not mean that everybody will do it. I think is clear that her final feedback does not state the true facts of the events and my professionalism as a freelancer here on Elance. I’ve been working here for more than 2 years and this is my first negative feedback
