With a love and great experience with type, I have designed books since 1995. (Other work exists of advertising, ads, logos, etc.) yet my love remains with books. I have created thousands of book titles in various formats and genre; preschool to adult, self-help to coffee table books.

My skills will provide the service of taking your Microsoft Word report, chap book, novel, recipe book, "How-to", poetry book or novel and turn that into a final Pdf file ready for press.
Pre-press production may include all or some of the following:
1. Overall text design of the book, which will include choice of fonts and typefaces used for readability and the best expression of the materials supplied.
2. Working with high resolution scans and positioning them appropriately within text when the type of book needs that.
One of the latest books I designed, "The Illustrated Journals of Susanna Moodie by Charles Pachter and Margaret Atwood" included intensive Photoshop work to create appropriate bleeds to fit the final choice of book dimensions while keeping the integrity of Charles' paintings.
3. Possible photo retouching where necessary within Photoshop. Sometimes images are supplied that are damaged or have little or no contrast and need to be worked within Photoshop to give us the best final printed image. Having designed "Toronto's Distillery District: History by the Lake by Sally Gibson," which was funded by the Distillery District owners, there was extensive Photoshop work added to the job within an intensive timeline.
4. Working with novels, authors may have an idea of how many pages they wish their final book to be. As an expert text designer I can bulk up a book or condense a book without loosing any integrity to the final look of the book. If the client...
