Service Description

I have been a freelance editor for several years. In addition to working with clients who find me via Elance, I work with writers who come to me through private referrals, from meeting me at writers conferences, or after reading my articles in magazines like Writer's Digest and The Writer. I also edit books for Little Pickle Press. My most recent article for Writer's Digest appears in the January 2014 issue. An article I wrote for WD about editing, "10 Things Your Freelance Editor Might Not Tell You--But Should" appeared in the print edition of the magazine in 2013 and can now be read online at http://www.writersdigest.com/online-editor/10-things-your-freelance-editor-might-not-tell-you-but-should.

My background, in short: For many years, I was a high school English teacher and private SAT and writing tutor. In 2009, my debut novel, HOW TO BUY A LOVE OF READING, was published by Dutton, an imprint of Penguin. HTBALOR was released in paperback by Plume in 2010 and has been translated into Spanish and Italian.

In addition to editing other writers' work and creating my own, I teach writing classes, speak at writers' conferences, and present to groups about reading, writing, and editing.

I'm look forward to working with you as an editor or proofreader.
