When I announced I was leaving Kingston to move to Sydney, I was asked to consider staying on as a remote employee. I have therefore been working for Queen's University remotely, from my home in Sydney since the summer of 2009. During this time I have had leading development roles in a number of projects, worked closely with clients, and have documented all of my activities and hours in extensive detail. Many of the clients -- other departments at the University -- were unaware that I was over a thousand kilometers from campus. Phone meetings and detailed documentation have enabled me to develop exactly to the customer's expectations without face to face contact. This skill naturally transcends telecommuting, and will prove to be an asset in any position.
