“Unfortunately, I cannot recommend working with Teena.
In early September, I hired Teena through Elance, on behalf of my employer. He is a long-time entrepreneur, and experienced in PR work himself. He was tied up with quite a few demands, so he decided to hire a freelancer, and chose Teena. I took care of the hiring process for him. Here is his account of his experience from that point:
“I should have listened to the first warning signal that something wasn’t quite right: Teena insisted that we release her fee up front, even though the money had been safely set aside for her in Elance escrow. She seemed very certain, and excited about our company and story, so I went ahead and released the fee. That was a mistake.
“About a week into the project, she reported 4 big media outlets were interested in our story. After 2 weeks, there was still no actual coverage, but she said she was still working hard for us. However, we were never covered by any media through her efforts. We (Teena and I) finally decided the story must not be interesting enough for the media to pick up.
“However, a few weeks later – totally through my own efforts – the same story was picked up by Financial Times, and then featured on KillerStartups.com."
Perhaps Teena has performed well for other clients. Her credentials certainly indicate she has, and I assume they are legitimate or she wouldnÂ’t still be in business. However, the experience described above was not positive. ”
