“Before the job was awarded, we required this freelancer to complete various tests to demonstrate their skills. The test results were very good.
So, we agreed to award the job on ONE condition. The INDIVIDUALS who took our tests would be REQUIRED to work on our projects until we reached a maintenance phase.
We required highly skilled, LEAD VAs to assist on a big project for branding 3 companies. We specifically stated that we did not want to experience a "Bait and Switch" game. We did not want to be lured in by the higher skilled people. Then, soon after we have invested time, money and energy training these lead VAs, they are removed from our projects and replaced with LOWER SKILLED help who makes more mistakes and slows the work down because we have to spend time showing them how to use FREE, third party tools like DropBox, YouTube, Filezilla, Dreamweaver etc..etc... This was our experience with this freelancer. They were very careless and irresponsible. Our lead VA was suddenly removed and re-assigned to a NEW project. He would not show up online for our meetings. We had meetings every day due to the fast pace of our development cycles. Our managers were sitting online waiting for him (Lead VA) to login to Skype many times. We declined to work with other lesser skilled VAs at this company because they were making too many mistakes. We filed a dispute, participated in a conference call with elance and this freelancer. We were REFUNDED most of our money.
This freelancer really put us in a bad situation. They did not explain their process clearly BEFORE the job was awarded. The were more anxious to get the job and less focused on clearly explaining how they operate. Today, we understand. But at the start of the project, they were not very clear. They plan to assign a lead person to you work. Then, they will "train" a lesser skilled person and hand your work over to the LESSER skilled person.
This would not have worked for us. They started off good and ended BAD.”

“The client asked us to clear 13 different type of tests before deciding to award us the project. We had made it very clear that it is not possible to for one VA to have so many skills, so we will be providing different team members who come in to complete their part of the work as per their skills. We had provided a ‘lead VA’ to coordinate with the client. The Lead VA gets the work done from other team members and trains them as required. This was for the client’s convenience so they did not have to coordinate with multiple people. This is a unique operational structure that our company has implemented since years and all our other clients are happy with this structure. As the project progressed the client started expecting everything to be done by the ‘Lead VA’ whereas we had a team set up for completing client’s work. We were being paid only for the work completed on an hourly basis and not for a Full-time Lead VA. The mutually agreed transfer of work to team members is now being termed as ‘bait and switch’ which was not the case as the Lead VA was never moved from the project and was still the point of contact for the client until the last day we worked together. All work was completed using Elance WorkView and remote screen sharing of our team’s computers for the entire 8 hours. We were still forced to refund one complete month’s of money just to resolve the Elance dispute and satiate client’s unreasonable demand for refund. We are disappointed to see this impulsive feedback rating from our client. We are also surprised that if we scored so bad in all parameters of this feedback, why did the same client choose to continue working with us for 12 consecutive weeks and also awarded us repeat projects.”
