I have more than 17 years of experience in web development, and specifically have abilities in theming and graphical design. I also have an extensive history in writing, project management, design, training, and quality assurance.
Graphic design (not for print)
Eight years ago, I was the lead designer and implementer of Plone-based websites at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the College of Arts & Sciences. At the time, I built more than 20 Plone sites and provided customer support for our departments. After four years at UNC, I moved to Seattle to work for another Plone shop in the hopes of finding greater challenges.
While in Seattle, I built more than 200 Plone sites for an environmental non-profit company. In that timeframe, I also wrote and managed the production of one and a half books about Plone, including one on theming and another that is an in-depth introduction to the CMS. I spoke at two Plone conferences, and provided in-depth training on theming to more than 20 students in Naples, Italy in 2007. I also provided Plone training to members of my former department at UNC. I eventually became the leader of the local Plone users group in Seattle and was quite active within the community in general.
I relocated back to North Carolina last October, and returned to my previous position at UNC. Currently, I project manage the web services division of the College of Arts & Sciences, but I also do web design and implementation on the side. I'm looking for contract work that makes use of any or many of my skills.
