I provide services predominantly to small businesses and charities in web design, web development and translation. As well as building sites from scratch, I also work with various open source content management systems (Wordpress, Joomla) and ecommerce solutions (Cubecart, ZenCart, OS Commerce), customising these to my clients needs. I translate from Spanish, French and Portuguese to English, from small to large documents as needed by my clients.
Walker Web Solutions is me, Ali Walker. Having graduated with an Honours degree in Modern Languages (French, Spanish & Portuguese) I took a Masters in European Sociolinguistics, and then taught myself to program for the web, firstly with HTML, then CSS, then PHP and MySQL for dynamic sites backed by databases. I worked as an administrator for a number of years after graduation, then decided to become self-employed focussing on web design and development. I have recently decided to reincorporate translation into my business, which is allowing me to explore this creative passion alongside the web one!

My usual terms include 50% deposit prior to commencement of work (for projects under $2000), with the remainder due on completion. For larger projects, this can be divided into a smaller deposit, with further interim payments, depending on the nature of the project.
Projects will not be undertaken unless they can be begun and completed fairly quickly. Turnaround time will always be agreed prior to commencing work.
I will always try to give a fixed price for a project, rather than working to an hourly rate. The price I give will be based on an hourly rate, but it often suits both parties to have a fixed price in mind for the project to run smoothly.
