This essay highlights the role of entrepreneurs in promoting growth of private enterprise which revitalizes economic growth and development prospects for nations. The paper questions the ability of ‘for-profit’ or venture capitalist entrepreneurs to achieve the same level of impact on key developmental issues compared to “Social Entrepreneurs”. Social entrepreneurs combine value creation and social mission. They are market driven and mission led, achieving their goals in a way which contributes to the development of the society. Although venture capitalist entrepreneurs try to invest in social missions but the obstacles that they face in achieving their objectives are far greater. The author, in this article, establishes through examples, that social enterprises are more relevant to the business scenario in recent times. She has reinforced the support of capital venture entrepreneurs whose focus should remain on promoting social enterprises particularly in developing countries like Pakistan.
