Screenwriter needed for interactive musical
Seeking screenwriter with experience to help with screenplay development for interactive musical production.
Looking for an individual who thinks "outside of the box". This project requires comedic, light-hearted, "Monty Python-like" wit. Creating a story to music, synopsis, and characters.
The music, lyrics, story synopsis, and characters (protagonist/antagonist) have been developed.
The flow of the story (social commentary) is represented loosely by the sequence of music already created (retro genre).
However, there is flexibility in structure, themes, plot and characters. We are essentially looking for help in developing the "book" to music, lyrics, characters and synopsis already created.
We envision the "book" ultimately comprising of between 10 and 20 short chapters which would serve as the story for digital and live performance.
Each chapter should be thought of as a live-staged "music video", but with dialogue preceding or following each song. The writer would need to be "creating the scenes" to fit with the song in mind.
We are NOT LOOKING to modify or alter lyrics or music at this point in time. While the music must serve as the guide to the "book", each song need not be represented in the "book" - we would be looking for the writer to pick and choose which songs (from a list of 27) is best suited for the story he/she is inspired to write, so long as it fits within the synopsis.
Each chapter must serve as a segment or scene within the broader cohesive story - - So the book must encompass the story in an appropriate progression, with appropriate plot, character development, etc.
This project is considered "atypical theatre"; the "book" and "music" will eventually be adapted and performed as a live interactive rock-show.
We are looking for the eventual live performance to have a "cult-like" vibe and "grass-root" following. The theme of the social commentary is dark, serious and controversial - - The script and characters must be the opposite - - upbeat, light with comedic elements- -not necessarily slapstick
Previous experience is required.
Payment for writers would be commissioned on a scene-by-scene basis, beginning with "the treatment". The treatment must fit scene to song and demonstrate appropriate story arc and character development.
The next phase will encompass the chapter phase, which will comprise approximately 10 pages of script.
We are looking for writers to serve as either ghostwriters or collaborators (the latter with appropriately acknowledging the writer(s) involved). While we are looking for one ideal screenwriter to complete the entire book, we would also be prepared to commission a group of writers to tackle segments of the book.
Timelines - we would be looking to complete the book within 6 months. However, there is flexibility on timelines. We are seeking the "right individual".
The first priority would be selecting the writer based on his/her "treatment" to ensure there is an appropriate fit.
Experience includes, but not limited too: 1. Complete grasp of the English language 2. Creative adult writing 3. Script writing or Play writing 4. Formulation of contemporary fiction 5. Interactive musical theatre (preferable)
