We pay our employees based on a time labor guide. Each one of our invoices has a specific amount of time that it pays the technician to perform a specific task. Our database is written in SQL. We need a program that will pull a specific technician, his time, date, invoice number, status of the invoice (ex. Posted or still Work in Progress). Once we pay an employee for an Invoice we want to make sure the employee can't be paid again for the same invoice. We also need to be able to pay the employee partially for an invoice (ex. he may be paid 5 hours of a 10 hour job. Since we owe him 5 hours still the most the program will allow us to pay in the future is 5 hours). The program needs to be able to print reports for date periods.

I run a wedding officiating business and have for the past 10 years contracted with my part time "staff". However, my attorney advises me that in the state where I'm based (Colorado) the Dept of Labor would consider my relationship with these folks to be more "employee" than contractors. I don't have a clue about where to start to attempt this conversion and I have no idea about the general legal logistics of having employees versus contractors. All I've done so far is email for Workman's Comp quotes. And to top it all off, my business covers three states. I'd like to get a general idea of what this conversion is going to cost me annually plus you know..just get a clue... is this something you could advise me on?

Hi Guy's, Just found you on Elance. I am currently looking at a better way to manage the onboarding process for new employees and Contractors and I saw your dashboard you created in you profile. I run a labour hire on-hire business where clients find the workers and then ask us to onboard them and payroll them. This on-boarding process is hard to manage as we are using an online registration process which is then emailed to us and we then have to manage the different stages in Excel, this makes it hard for our staff to track where the process is at for each new on hire.
