We are looking for a firewall expert to install a few testing instances of pfSense, OPNsense, OPNsense on HardenedBSD within an ESXi 5.5 environment to provide external and internal NAT and routing. And recommend an alternative. We would like to compare all in terms of features and stability. A simple how to will be appreciated. Adding an extra virtual switch/vlan with a different subnet on ESXi would be needed, the ISP provided 2 IPs on one subnet and 2 IPs on a different subnet.

We have old D630 Dell laptops, some non-branded laptops, old desktops all with 1G RAM. We are a 98% linux shop using Mint 17.x OS. We would like to use all these as thin clients. Windows has this RDP (hack) that makes XP, or Win7 a terminal server. So multiple people can be remotely logged onto the same machine at the same time and use various usernames to login RDP sessions and use the computer. This video demonstrates how XPUnlimited works:   [obscured]  /watch?v=Uf74IbPFafs We want a similar setup in linux. In this setup, the server will have the same IP, and multiple username. Example: IP 192.168.2.151 will have 15 usernames: user1, user2...user15. I should be able to remotely login on .151 as user1 using VNC or RDP and use the server as a standalone computer. Another user can remotely login on .151 as user2 using VNC or RDP and use the server as a standalone computer....and so on and so forth. If I quit server (close the window on my local computer), the us...

Create primary server on AMD 8core fx machine with 16G RAM and 2 HDD of 2TB each (raid) Create similar backup machine Create virtual machines on both such that primary is backing every virtual machine to the backup. If primary fails, we should be able to bring up the secondary and work off of the "cold backup". alerts to be generated on high CPU or RAM utilization via emails. 2 current machines to be transferred from their current hardware to primary as a virtual machine (you show us one how to do, we do the 2nd by ourselves - to save you time we record your session, and follow same steps for 2nd one) script so that when Primary starts, the VMs start automatically pfSense to be configured so that each VM on primary and secondary can be access over http and ssh via port forwarding. (you show us how to do it with an example, we do the rest- again, we record your session so you dont have to show us again and again). Thanks.

I have a home network with 20+ devices. Most of them are connected via wifi, 3 are hard wired. I am using over 1.1TB a month with my cable provider, and I would like to see logs of which machine is utilizing how much bandwidth per day/month, and ideally which URLs are being visited by device. I am very flexible and open to ideas, including purchasing software or buying another wireless router than may have some of these features built in. I am not keen on setting up a dedicated box on my LAN running PFSense or similar. I do have a PC running windows 8 that I could leave on all the time if required, or perhaps a router that can capture events on a USB drive that I can analyse via the interface of the router or offline on my PC. I don't have experience running syslogs, but can get up to speed very quickly.

Hi, I want a filemaker front end for free radius user creationin pfsense, the filemaker part will simply have a few fields. Filemaker user name (upon filemaker login) Time new radius user new radius password data allowance (in mB) data allowance expiry (week or Month) cost - variable but per GB field to indicate money has been taken. The filemaker database will then create the free radius user and password and print out the user details ... the radius user, password, data and experts will be written to the free radius database in pfsense... ideally the filemaker data file will be held on the free radius server as a stand alone file, however it can be held locally on the machine connecting to it... It may also be useful to write all the filemaker fields to custom sql fields in pfsense and just make filemaker the front end to the sql, utilising filemaker scripting etc to was the use.
