Typing a town's bylaws into MS Word
I am the IT Manager for a town in Massachusetts and we have a code book (basically the town bylaws) which was typed on a typewriter and some mix and match programs over the past 30 years or so. It's around 250-300 double sided pages on paper that is around 7.5" x 10.5" - smaller than letter sized paper. We are looking to have someone type it into Microsoft Word and recreate the formatting (indents, etc - not worried about matching the font).
I've scanned in a few pages for reference. I'm looking for an estimate on the amount of time it would take and fully realize it's impossible to give an accurate quote on it, but a ballpark based upon approximate number of pages/hour and estimating it at 500 pages.
The numbers I put on the budget are estimates and I'm going through a few elance profiles and I'll be sending this job to 3 - 5 people. Looking to get this started within a week or 2.
If selected, we would be sending the book itself to you, don't worry - you wouldn't have to deal with deciphering scans, you'd have the original.
